Croatia’s finance minister to quit government

Marić, a financial expert who succeeded in bringing together the state finances, was regarded as one of the best ministers in the government.

Marko Primorac, a professor of economics who is relatively unknown, is the most likely candidate to succeed Mari, according to national television HRT.

Resignation of the Croatian Finance Minister

The deputy prime minister and finance minister of Croatia, Zdravko Maric, has filed his letter of resignation.

Marić and Plenkovic reportedly spoke about the relocation during the previous few weeks, and Plenkovic thanked him on behalf of the government for his 6-and-a-half-year service.

Marić will disclose his reasons to leave the cabinet on Thursday, the prime minister added.

Plenković refused to say where Marić is going and stated that Mari has informed the leadership of the HDZ.

"When he is ready to say something more about that he will do so," the prime minister added.
