"Blonde," "Bardo," "The Whale," "Eternal Daughter," and More Are on the Venice 2022 Lineup.

The pandemic's existential crisis has apparently strengthened film festivals more than ever.

Currently in India, filmmaker Joe Russo has lauded the movie as well, calling it a "perfectly done epic."

The only Sundance debut to ever take home the Best Picture Oscar earlier this year was "CODA."

Additionally, Cannes, which resumed its customary May dates, introduced the world to art house marvels like Palme d'Or winner "Triangle of Sadness," which could have an impact on the Oscar race the following year.

With the one-two-three punch of Venice, Telluride, and TIFF, the awards season is now set to pick up speed. Venice is first as usual, with its 79th gathering beginning on August 31.

Its lineup has since been made public.

It will compete for the Golden Lion at competition screenings.

In recent years, Netflix has performed particularly well at Venice, with "Roma" winning the Golden Lion in 2018 before winning other statuettes.

And "The Power of the Dog," which made its festival debut last year before Jane Campion ultimately won Best Director in March.

Julianne Moore is the head of the Venice jury for this year. Mariano Cohn, Leonardo di Costanzo, Audrey Diwan, Leila Hatami, Kazuo Ishiguro, and Rodrigo Sorogoyen will all be present with her.
