Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan won her maiden Grand Slam championship at Wimbledon.

She defeated Ons Jabeur 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 to claim the title at the All England Club, earning Kazakhstan, her adopted nation, its first singles prize at a significant competition.

It's difficult to tell if Elena Rybakina just won Wimbledon or solved the day's Wordle puzzle.

"It's so unexpectable these two weeks, what happened," Rybakina said.

Elena Rybakina had a few long-term objectives and Wimbledon was one of them. She ultimately checked a very large box.

At Wimbledon, Elena Rybakina defeats Ons Jabeur to win the women's title.

Elena Rybakina is the second-lowest-ranked player to win the women's title since rankings were first established in 1975; she was a 100-1 long shot to win Wimbledon entering the Grand Slam competition.

"You have an amazing game, and I don't think we have someone like this on tour," Rybakina told Jabeur during the postmatch trophy ceremony, then added this one-liner: "I ran today so much, so I don't think I need to do fitness more, honestly."

When Ons Jabeur and Elena Rybakina play on Centre Court on Saturday, a new name will be on the Wimbledon women's singles trophy and a new Grand Slam champion will be crowned.

Rybakina immediately displayed her finest shots, including a powerful serve (she currently leads the tour in aces in 2022) and a flat forehand.

Having finally gained her first break opportunity to start the second set, Rybakina—who defeated Serena Williams at the French Open last year—went up 1-0 when Jabeur botched a forehand.

Following her victory in the women's singles Wimbledon final, Elena Rybakina raises the Venus Rosewater Dish trophy in celebration.

The 23-year-old, playing in her first grand slam final, got off to a sluggish start before finding her stride and using a strong serve to defeat Jabeur.
